6th song of the month: Symphony No. 9 In D Minor (“Choral”), Op. 125: I. Allegro Ma Non Troppo - by Ludwig Van Beethoven. Finally a Beethoven, in this whole time I’ve been doing this little experiment, I hadn’t come across any Beethoven til now. I used to say I disliked Beethoven, but from everything I’ve listened to so far, his music is actually pretty exciting. He likes to write very big stuff, contrasted with tiny themes. He’s still not my favorite composer, I reserve that to Chopin and Debussy, but this is a good symphony. 13 minutes long, so get ready for this one, but enjoy! And have a great day everyone! I know I am

5th song of the month: op 26, Faschingsschwank aus Wien movement II: Romanze (Ziemlich Langsam), in G minor - by Robert Schumann. This is actually a 6 movement piece, its about 20 minutes long, but pandora only gave me the 2nd movement, and no need to listen to the full 20 minute piece many times per month, that’d be tough haha. Still I haven’t heard too much of Schumann, maybe I’ll go back and finish listening to the whole thing sometime. Have a great day everyone!

PART 2:

4th Song of the Month: Piano Concerto No 3 in E Flat Major: Rondo: Tempo Di Polacca - by John Field. John Field is super old school, 1782 - 1837. This is a 13 minute long piece, but like I said, 2nd time through is always much more enjoyable. It’s a great way to start off your morning, clear your mind. Anyways, hope you all enjoy this piece!

PART 1:

4th Song of the Month: Piano Concerto No 3 in E Flat Major: Rondo: Tempo Di Polacca - by John Field. This is a two piece video, I barely even managed to find this on youtube, so listen to this and then go to part 2.

3rd song of the month!: Symphony No. 6 “Pathetique” In B Minor, Op.74: II. Allegro Con Grazia - By Tchaikovsky. At first this piece was just whatever to me, but listening the 2nd time through (cuz I had to find the youtube for it), I actually really like it a lot. I don’t usually post videos of the people actually playing it, but I did this time because it helps keep your attention to the melody. It can also teach about orchestration. So perhaps Ill just post performances from now on. Anyways this is a great piece, give it a listen!

2nd song of the month: Waltz in F Minor, Op. 70, CT. 218 - by Chopin. I always light up when I get to hear a new Chopin piece. This ones also short, enjoy!

1st Song of the month: La Traviata, Opera: Act 3 Prelude - by Giuseppe Verdi. This is a short little piece, but pretty nice though. Shouldn’t take too much effort to listen too. Better than the first song that came up, which was one of Mozart’s Piano Sonatas. The only reason I skipped it though was because it was 13 minutes long and was just variations on one theme the entire time. Anyways, good day everyone!

Last day of the month!

Dang, been so busy I just realized today is the last day of the month, a productive month its been too! But that means that this is the last time to listen to this strain of classical/romantic era music before I start a whole new set. It’s been a good experiment so far though, I’ve really began to enjoy this music much more than before! I don’t post this up for anyone but myself, just for some good time keeping. But feel free to listen along with the songs I post up daily. It expands your mind! So give it a try! Got more stuff going on today so, have a great day everyone!

I won’t be posting up another “Song of the day” for the next week. I came across this book probably about 4 months ago, it explained why we don’t always appreciate classical style music as much as we should. It’s pretty simple, in order for us to really enjoy a song, you need to listen to it at-least 4 or 5 times. It’s so easy to listen to music on the radio and like it, most of these songs are about 3 minutes in length and only feature about 1:30 minutes unique musical themes. We can become familiar with these songs very fast. But in the world of classical (or baroque, romantic, whatever), where songs can be up to 10 minutes in length, it’s a much longer process, though much more rewarding if you take the time to listen. — That’s what the book says anyways, I’m inclined to believe it though lol, so I’m going to re-listen to all of the pieces I posted last week at-least once and see how I feel about them the 2nd time around. You all can give it a try too if you want! Have a great day everyone!

Tues March 27th EDIT:
I’ve changed my mind, I’m only going to post up a song everyday for the first week of a month from now on. The remaining 3 weeks should be spent re-listening to them. I think this way you can really grow to enjoy a piece you’re listening too. Anyways, Off to write music! Once again, good day all!

Song of the day: Op 105 movement 2: Violin & Piano Sonata no 1 In A minor - By Robert Schumann. This is a cool little song, and actually, it is small compared to most of “classical” pieces we usually hear. Anyways, start your morning off right with a little bit of mental stimulation from the old days!
